AN AMERICAN DICTIONARY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE INTENDED TO EXHIBIT,

  1. The origin, affinities and primary signification of English words, as far as they have been ascertained.

  2. The genuine orthography and pronunciation of words, according to general usage, or to just principles of analyis.

  3. Accurate and discriminating definitions, with numerous authorities and illustrations.

Note from NH State Rep. Timothy Horrigan; April 22, 2013:  Even though a dictionary is not really a language, a secessionist group called the "Union States People on New Hampshire" has declared the 1828 edition of Noah Webster's American Dictionary to be the state's official language.  Indeed, their charter states that it is "our only language; to the exclusion of all other words and definitions from any source whatever."  I don't know how that is supposed to work in practice, given that 185 years of history have happened since then, along with 185 years-worth of new words.
